Just when Michael thought the nightmares couldn't get any worse, he's pulled through a series of tortures that push him to the brink of annihilation. With his body and soul completely broken, he discovers he's been chosen to be the champion against the evil that's been tormenting him, and must summon the strength within himself to either fight back or watch the destruction of the world and all that he holds dear.

Excerpt:

As Michael quickly backed away from the water’s edge, a figure surfaced. It was Dark and shifty, as if it occupied two planes of existence simultaneously until it stabilized once it had emerged completely. Wearing a finely tailored three-piece suit and tie, the being strode toward him on long legs that ended in a pair of immaculately polished black leather shoes. His hair was perfectly combed, his teeth shiny pearls of white, with the smile of a game-show host spread across his lips. A black cat with fur like midnight rested in his left arm, while he stroked its head with his right hand.

He walked right up to Michael, his smile growing even wider. He bent his head toward the cat, “I bet he has a million questions right now, Abaddon? What do you think?”

Abaddon let out a soft meow in response.

“Who are you?” Michael said through trembling lips as he backed further into the cave.

“There’s nowhere for you to escape to, Michael,” he said. “Consider this the final destination of your failed and miserable life, with me, Nybbas, or ‘The Sandman’, if you prefer, your host in a final game of ‘How fucked up can it get?’ And I assure you, if you somehow make it to the final round, you’ll wish you’d died a thousand times over.”

He leaned close to Michael with a twinkle in his eye. “I heard you like to go on trips? Let’s see how you like this one!”

Before Michael could reply, Abaddon opened her mouth wide and a slew of tentacles shot forward and attached themselves to Michael’s head, each one with a needle-sharp spine attached to the end that penetrated deep into his skull. The tentacles pulsed and writhed as they pumped his brain with toxins that quickly turned his eyes milky white and rendered him immobile.

“Well, that was easy,” Nybbas said. “Now, let’s see how long this fucker can survive.”
